Bob Prahl is the shareholder/President of Prahl & McBride APC. A Native San Diegan, Bob received his B.A. from San Diego State University. He went to University of California Hastings School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif. Bob is a loyal San Diego State Aztec supporter, is active in the community and serves as chancellor for his church.
Upon graduating law school, Bob joined the law firm Frye, Schmeltzer, and Reynolds doing business and personal injury litigation. He then joined Marinos, Augustine, and Delafield in 1969 to 1972 working with transactional real estate and corporate securities. Soon after he partnered with Robert P. Lowell, a former partner with Marinos, Augustine, and Delafield. In January 1973, they were joined by Jerry B. Hicks and Wiley Jones to form the law firm of Lowell, Hicks, Prahl & Jones - the beginnings of Prahl and McBride APC. During this time, Bob expanded his practice into estate planning including wills and trusts as well as continuing in transactional real estate, corporate, and business law. These efforts were complementary to Jerry Hicks tax and estate planning work.
Bob has been involved since 1970 in transactional real estate work, including structuring and documenting of real estate acquisitions and sales, preparing and analyzing of leases including commercial leases, ground leases and lease options; involvement with various aspects of condominium work including preparation of CC&Rs, drafting and analysis of easements; preparation of deeds of trust, notes, specialized forms of deeds of trust including all-inclusive deeds of trust, subordination and release provisions, title and escrow issues, subdivision work and the like.

Mike McBride is a shareholder of Prahl & McBride APC. Upon graduation from college in 1966, served as a commissioned officer on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. After five years of service in the Marine Corps as an infantry officer, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, was selected by the Marine Corps to remain on active duty and attend law school at government expense.
On graduation from law school in 1972, served in various legal billets of increasing importance including a tour as a Principal Assistant to the Judge Advocate General of the United States Navy. In this position, had supervisory responsibility for all legal assistance provided to Navy and Marine Corps personnel in dealing with estate planning and legal matters in the civilian community. Also supervised the Department of Defense office responsible for state taxation of defense activities. In March of 1991, retired from the Marine Corps as a Colonel with 26 years of active service and joined the law firm of Hicks & Prahl, becoming a partner in the successor law firm of Prahl & McBride in December of 1991.
Current areas of practice include estate planning, probate, taxation, business law including formations, sale and dissolutions of corporations and limited liability companies. Estate planning practice primarily involves drafting or reviewing various types of revocable and irrevocable trusts, many for clients with estates in excess of ten million dollars. Currently representing five estates in the Probate department of the San Diego Superior Court.
Much of the tax practice involves providing advice and preparation of income tax returns for estates and trusts, providing advice on gifts and preparation of gift tax returns, and advice and preparation of estate tax returns.
